Introduction

Bullying refers to harassment or violence committed against other students in school. It is a repetitive unwanted behavior that compromises the level of discipline in learning institutions. This habit occurs because of excessive use of drugs in schools, smoking and watching violent computer games among other causes. This behavior has mental and physical effects on the victims. For instance, bullied students can suffer from depression as they might feel disturbed most of the time. Harassment can also lead to suicidal thoughts from those who face mistreatment in schools. Some of the conventional methods that people use to intimidate others comprise of use of violence and verbal attacks. The purpose of this assignment is to know why victimization occurs, its effects and how it can be controlled in learning institutions.

Why do I want to study about the topic?

One of the reasons why I am interested in the subject is because the issue of bullying has not been eliminated in schools. Such cases continue to exist in learning institutions, and there is a need to study the subject to correct the situation in the future. Another aim is to understand why people become oppressors. For example, some of the people acquire behavior by learning it from others. Others might also want to revenge if they experienced a similar situation in the past. The topic will also assist me to know the various approaches I can use to detect bullying in schools. One of the methods that one can use is speech emotion recognition(Twemlow & Sacco, 2013). It can significantly assist in decreasing cases of bullying in learning institutions.

Additionally, the topic will also assist me to understand the various forms of mistreatment that occurs in schools. Some of them comprise of cyber-attacks, verbal and physical attacks and stealing from others (Ziv & Dolev, 2013). Furthermore, the topic will enable me to identify the best approaches I can use to gather information. One of the techniques is through the use of questionnaires. It involves the process of asking straight forward queries that require short answers like yes and no. The method is appropriate since some of the students may be shy to answer the interview questions asked.

My personal experience

As an individual, I do not have any personal experience that can limit me from freely giving my views on the topic. Therefore, I cannot be biased in my inquiry. In my school, cases of bullying were not tolerated by the school administration. As a result, each student was appreciated and tolerated by the school. Those who were found mistreating others were expelled from school immediately (Peguero, 2012). However, this step was only taken after conducting thorough investigations to ensure that someone is not punished by mistake. The school rules were also apparent on the issue of bullying. Though there were a few instances of harassment, I was lucky to complete my studies without experiencing such an incidence. Therefore, I am in a position to discuss the topic of bullying in schools without any bias. I believe that my opinion will reflect the true state of affairs in most learning institutions.

Importance of studying the topic

This subject is essential in the education sector because of its benefits to the students and teachers and other stakeholders. The issue can assist the policy makers to come up with strategies on how to deal with the issue of bullying in schools (KENNEDY, 2008). The measure can help in decreasing cases of student harassment in learning institutions. Some of the steps that might be taken include introducing stringent actions against those who are found guilty of engaging in bullying. The topic will also assist in identifying the various types of intimidation. It can facilitate the school’s administrators to control these things from happening in schools. In this case, the management can raise their discipline levels to ensure that all learners receive equal treatment.

Additionally, the subject can also assist in preventing unrests in schools (Duy, 2013). The tormented students might decide to retaliate if no one safeguards them thus, leading to these conflicts. Also, learning about the topic will assist to create public awareness in school about the dangers of bullying. The approach will ensure all the people are familiar with the consequences of mistreatment in leaning institutions. Finally, the subject will facilitate the bringing of all the stakeholders in the industry together. The primary objective is to ensure that an amicable solution is found on the issue of intimidation in schools. However, bullying habit is unwanted behavior that should not be there in our schools.

Capstone Project a lengthy focus to finish the capstone project. One of the reasons is because it can take a long duration before its conclusion. This is because it is a research venture that requires extensive investigations before coming up with any findings (Chisholm, 2004). The topic is also, and one might use various data collection techniques to collect information. Therefore, it is advisable for someone to research during the final year in school. In this case, it is capable of supporting a continued focus to complete the Capstone Project.
