American football and soccer are ball sports which are considered the most popular sports globally.  The two sports are considered alike in different ways, but they have differences that make them stand out among the fans.  The two sports creates a sensation for spectators as well as entertaining the people. Therefore, American football and soccer tend to be the main sports which represent hands and feet sports as well as most popular among spectators across different regions.

Soccer can be perceived as a straightforward sport which is played by kicking the ball towards the opponent’s goal side.  The soccer players need intelligence tactics that are given by the managers. Also, soccer involves physical contact among the players, and the referee prevents the players from injury.  Soccer matches are played on pitches with natural grass.  The players wear cleats and shin pads. Soccer matches are usually played in two sessions each running for 45 minutes but is some special events extra time may be added for the matches. The ball use id spherical in shape and the major soccer tournament is the world cup.

American football is played by throwing the ball which is only kicked when there is a need to make a field goal.  The American football players are usually equipped with shoulder pads, helmets, and girdle pads.  The shape of America football is oval and making a goal requires the ball to touch down to earn six points.  The American football field is about 120 yards long, and the game is usually played for 60 minutes with allow of time outs.   The major tournament for American football is the World Series competed by professional teams from North America.

In conclusion, the two sports can be compared and contrasted based on the general rules of each sport. The sports have standard major title leagues that attracts competition among professional associations.  In contrast, American football is played mostly in North America while soccer dominated Europe, Africa, and South America continents.
