The main factors that relate to a successful transfer of learning include the following. First, the initial acquisition of knowledge is useful for transfer of learning. Second, the transfer of learning is affected by the similarity between two learning situations. The more similar the two situations are, the more likely that the transfer of learning will occur. For instance, engage students in learning situations and tasks that are more similar to the situations they would apply the tasks. Third, the presence of a variety of learning experience relates to a successful transfer of learning. When students are exposed to varied examples and opportunities for practice, they encourage the transfer of learning (Leberman, Doyle & McDonald, 2006). Lastly, the context for learner’s experience influence transfer of learning. A successful transfer will occur when the students realize that they can apply what they learned to various contexts. For instance, relating a topic from one subject to other disciplines.
