Technology and Social Change

Social Changes created by the Industrial Revolution

There are several things that can be termed as the defining moments of the Industrial Revolution. This point implies that people had experienced a change in lifestyle that was not going to end soon. The change that was realized was gradual. Hence, most individuals did not feel that everything was no longer the same. The shift to urban areas was inevitable as people moved to work (CrashCourse, 2012).  Consequently, they had to live not fat from their working areas. The infusion of cultures was inevitable at that point because everyone wanted to secure employment opportunities. Hence, the mass migration to urbanized areas seems to be the most noticeable social change that was created by the Industrial Revolution (MAH, 2013). People’s need for jobs made them jam the streets of Bradford and Manchester that were highly industrialized. The aforementioned issues show that the transition to city life was one of the most outstanding phases during the period. The migrants were forced to adjust to the challenges that existed in such places such as overcrowding.

Technology that impacts human life today

The post-Industrial Revolution era was characterized by mass transport, economic middle class, and the rise of science. Therefore technological advancements took place during the period as people strived to find easier ways of tackling their daily challenges. Mass communication has been one of the most visible signs of the Post-Industrial Revolution period. The “Digital Revolution” has changed how individuals interact in several ways. PCs have significantly revolutionized several activities as compared to the interneet, mobile phones, and social media. Literally, every industry requires the appliances because they have been structured to accept several functions effortlessly. The future of technology, however, still remains unknown.
