The butterfly effect

The butterfly effect refers to a situation where a single or a small action can trigger many unintended results. It is defined as being a self-organizing system and leads to increased levels of interactions among small units (Summers, 2009).  Nonetheless, it can also shift from being a self-organizing system thus leading to chaos within an organization.   I am in agreement with the complexity theory as i believe that it is challenging to determine the initial conditions with increased accuracy levels.   When coordinated well, it is an ideal method of resolving problems as it entails the interception of different phenomena.  Many organizations employ the technique in areas such as quality management. It can be used in both small and large organizations to initiate changes that are needed in boosting competitive advantage.

 

Response Two

I view system theory as being an ideal way through which the values and interest of all stakeholders are put into consideration. It is ideal for guiding organizational behavior and ensuring that all parties are committed to the attainment of the set objectives (Noe, 2006). An example is the concept of equifinality which forms as the basis of creating organization systems. I am an agreement that the concept can be used in creating structures that allow for competitive advantage and the ability of organizations to function in a complex environment. Moreover, the concept can also be applied in job designs thus ensuring that is increased levels of productivity. Not only does it reduce monotony, but it also creates a platform where the employees can improve their skills and competency levels.
