Virtual Literature

Virtual reality is the understanding of the things in our interaction with the virtual world through the use of our senses. Therefore, through virtual reality, we can understand virtual contents that relate to the things that we encounter. The application of virtual reality in education has played a central role in how teachers design their classroom instruction. Initially, most fields in education involved the study of virtual things which were hardly understood because students did not have prior knowledge of how to well understand virtual elements of different educational fields. Through virtual reality, various aspects of literature such as the analysis of movies have been made active. Thus, the incorporation of virtual reality has changed the scope of literature through the addition of digital elements such as video games which have made resulted in new ways of teaching literature in schools.

The incorporation of virtual reality in the teaching of literature has facilitated the development of new literate skills and new abilities. These qualities are needed in a better understanding of literature in the 21st century.  The advent of new technology has widened the scope of literature to include aspects which require students to have digital literacy skills. Moreover, the analysis and understanding of literature require skills that can aid a better understanding of the virtual world. As such, virtual reality provides insight for teachers and educators on the proper ways of enhancing the teaching of literature in schools in a way that can improve student’s imagination and creativity. The purpose of the literature is to help in the analysis of the virtual world for a better understanding of reality. Therefore, literature should involve practical elements so that students understanding of the things in the virtual world can enhance the knowledge of the real aspects that they encounter.

Active participation of students in class is crucial in understanding whatever they are taught. Teachers have been able to enhance meaningful learning of literature through virtual reality which allows students to contribute to what they are taught. It helps in the stimulation of learning experiences which helps in active learning of literature. Effective teaching of literature has for a long time hindered by teachers taking control of the instructional process, which they denied the students the opportunity of being creative. As such, virtual reality has resulted in full participation of the students during the teaching of literature. It helps students acquire knowledge on how they can better understand what they are taught in class and outside class.

Virtual reality has enhanced the teaching of aspects of literature such as movies and video games. Literature has also incorporated the ability to read and write media texts. Social constructivism has extended this belief because it holds that learning occurs through written and electronic language. As a result, electronic language helps in acquiring of knowledge involving electronic literature devices. For example, understanding how the virtual world can assist in analyzing certain aspects of literature such as character traits in movies. Therefore, active learning occurs when students interact with the physical aspect of the environment. Although literature majors on both virtual and the real world students should have the knowledge of how the virtual elements can be understood, which can be enhanced through virtual reality.

The traditional scope of literature mainly introduced students to literature without prior knowledge of how the contents should be analyzed.   Therefore, incorporation of virtual reality enables students to learn the ways of how to visualize what is going on the literal works they are examining.  Interaction with the virtual space allows students to develop good visual representation and aids in the understanding of the things they will be reading, and this greatly helps in understanding literature. The technology helps in understanding the virtual elements that they are learning through creating the link with reality. Teachers can devise mechanisms that can help students understand literature through understanding the virtual aspects of literature. Through the use of the elements of virtual reality such as immersion students are equipped with techniques of making literature to be well understood. Practical understanding of literature through virtual reality is the reason the scope of literature has changed to include certain aspects which are technology based.

In conclusion, the incorporation of virtual technology in school has changed the scope of literature and the understanding of the virtual aspects of literature.  Through virtual reality, students can create a connection between what they are taught in class and effectively apply them in a real setup. Changing what is shown in the literature is what has informed the incorporation of virtual reality in the teaching of literature.  Students need to have prior skills that can help them understand the virtual world. Virtual reality enables students to understand different concepts in the study of literature better. Therefore, virtual reality has helped in the shift from the traditional ways of teaching literature to out of class activities that lead to better understanding of literature.
