Social workers are professionally trained in an academic discipline to care for individuals,
families, groups, and communities to enhance their social well -being. In Canada, they are
registered and or approved by the Canadian Association of Schools of Social work(CASSW)
They can work in social welfare agencies, schools, hospitals, correctional institutions, private and government institutions. Social workers provide counseling, therapy, and problem -solving interventions. They also help to address social issues such as oppression, discrimination, domestic violence, poverty, and unemployment.Social workers are trained to help individuals solve their problems. They work with empathy and respect. They believe that government policies on social issues should benefits all citizens especially those in need. Social workers wear many hats. They advocate,counsel, write plans, strategies and help to promote social change in the community. They also treat and heal their clients from emotional and behavioral issues.
