Why Should you lead anyone?

The famed author and public speaker Myles Monroe said: “You must decide if you are going to rob the world or bless it with the richness, valuable, potent, untapped resources locked within you.”  An essential aspect of life regards recognizing one’s purpose by identifying their strengths and weaknesses and purposing to invest in progressive endeavors that benefit all humanity. Today, the business landscape requires a visionary and flexible leader who can steer an organization during such a period defined by rapid technological changes. As the chief information officer for this organization, I feel that I am qualified enough to marshal our collective efforts towards achieving the set objectives. I will tell you why I am optimistic about delivering positive results as the CIO flanked by your individual and combined contributions.

First, a leader must have essential principles that will keep them grounded while executing their responsibilities. Core values are crucial aspects that are developed, and they define one’s personality. You all know the key values of this organization: transparency, honesty, and dedication and their uniting role. In discharging my duties, I endeavor to integrate my core values of trustworthiness, equality, and accountability with those of the organization. I believe that each one of us gathered here hold dear similar values and that you have the best interest for our company and clients at heart. Without well-defined principles, it is easier for one to lose track of events or even be compromised and thus risking our reputation as an industry leader. Indeed, having strong principles and abiding by them is never in vain. Hence, I believe that by owning the organization’s core values coupled with my principles I will lead by example for the good of all of us.

Optimism is my primary driving factor in that I face every situation with positivity. Confidence is essential even in the face of despair and uncertainty since it can help one identify rare business opportunities. Our firm just like any other business will at certain times experience challenges, and it is upon us to remain confident and use all avenues and resources to stay afloat. I know you look up to the management for guidance and I being a part of the leadership I will play my role to overcome any hardship and even reap benefits from such scenarios for our company (Wetlaufer 3). As an optimist, I will aspire to bring the best out of everyone in this organization with the sole intention of making them better employees. I believe that there is no better time to help a person build a character than when adversities face them. Nevertheless, I hope that our business grows with minimum setbacks and if they arise, we all work towards offsetting them.

Teamwork is the crucial last pillar that I envision to be a foundation factor for as a leader. I believe that no single person is self-sustaining. Even the best footballers depend on their teammates to shine thus bringing glory to their teams. We are all here to complement each other’s skills and knowledge level while also learning amongst ourselves. I firmly believe in sharing of ideas and collaboration in our tasks regardless of their magnitude (Healy 4). As such I will keep pushing for teamwork while also insisting on individual achievement. As a leader, I will also persistently affirm that team success is the ultimate prize for our organization since the company’s goals supersede personal aspirations.

With the mentioned aspects, I aim at leaving a long-lasting impact as an employee of this organization. I believe that my value for teamwork, optimism and being principled will allow us to work harmoniously to deliver the best to humanity. Thank you.
