Yabroud Town – A Strategic Prize for Syria Government

Syria is a country in the high mountains and deserts. It is home to many ethnic and religious groups. Syria is governed under dictatorship authority. Any kind of opposition is not tolerated by the government leading much killings going on in the country. According to Woods, the Syrian government is happy regaining the Yabroud town from the rebels since the town was the the main entry point for weapons from Arsal. Their guerilla war has been made impossible. The rebels were also separated as some fled to the mountains and others to Arsal as Yabround is between making it impossible for them to retreat.

This is a big win to the government but crashing the rebels doesn’t help since an opposition group always emerges and the war continues. The war in Syria can only be stopped if there is a new government and leaders elected by all the people in the country and all ethnic groups should well be represented in the government.

Syria Rebel Rifts Deepen As Islamist Ranks Swell

Rebels in Syria are fighting each other all wanting to gain control over Syria. All this has been formed to fight the Bashar al-Assad government.  This hit the presence of Al-Qaeda in Syria. No rebel group wanted to be controlled by the Al-Qaeda and this was evident after ISIS (Sinjab).

All rebels announced that they were independent. Each one of the groups had its own agenda different from each other. Each group wanted to be seen as the one representing the peoples’ ideologies so as to gain many followers and funds. they fought and no group accepted defeat so as not to be seen inferior.

The Syrian Rebel Groups Pulling In Foreign Fighters

Rebel groups are attracting foreign fighters and this is being welcomed by the groups so as to gain popularity and power. Saudi and Moroccan fighters are some of the foreigners. They lead the groups and in return they give funds and ammunitions to the groups.  Each group is trying to attract strong foreigners so as to be powerful. This leads to a big serious problem as the war and bloodshed increases complicating peace talks in the land.

Syria’s Chemical Weapons Stockpile

Syria is said to have one of the largest chemical stockpile in the world. After a chemical attack in Damarscus, Syria agreed to destroy all its chemical weapons. This is seen as a good move. It is dangerous for a country with dangerous rebels such as Al-Qaeda to keep such weapons as the government can be overthrown and the weapon plants seized since the 21 August 2013 attack is not well known either the government or the rebels made the attack on its own people.
